Heading into the Asia Cup 2022, Virat Kohli's form with the bat was a major concern for the Indian team. However, the veteran cricketer proved everyone wrong with his outstanding performances. In the ongoing match against Afghanistan, Virat Kohli broke the jinx of his century drought to hit a magnificent hundred.

With Rohit Sharma being rested for the match, the 33-year-old got an opportunity to open the innings along with KL Rahul. Virat looked in supreme touch right from ball one as he built an all-important partnership with Rahul. In their partnership, the two added 119 runs, with each completing their half-century.

Rahul (62 runs in 41 balls) was the first to depart, but Kohli never stopped his aggression. No bowler was immune to his brilliance. Even Rashid Khan, who was expected to give him a tough fight, was not spared.

Virat kept the boundaries in check and went on to score his first T20I century. Notably, this was also his 71st international century, which took a gap of 1021 days to come. He completed his century in style with a six in the 19th over of the first innings.

He finished the innings with a score of 122 not out, having hit 12 fours and six sixes. In his special innings, the right-hander struck at a rate of 200. With this, Virat registered the highest score for India in the T20I format.

He helped India reach a total of 212 in the first innings of the match. India, meanwhile, is out of contention for the final of the Asia Cup. They lost their first two matches of the super four stages to Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

In the meantime, Twitter was ecstatic about the former Indian captain's performance. Fans had been waiting nearly three years for their favourite player to score a century, and their wait was finally over. The veteran cricketer will now try to capitalise on this momentum and perform well in his upcoming matches.
