Former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag lashed out on Kolkata Knight Riders for their back-to-back defeats in the ongoing season. Sehwag stated that the Eoin Morgan-led team is repeating the same mistakes and has made the IPL 2021 boring. Sehwag even claimed that he would consider fast-forwarding the KKR’s forthcoming games in the tournament.

Winning the toss in match No.25 of the IPL 2021, captain Rishabh Pant invited Morgan's KKR to bat first. On the Ahmedabad pitch that looked like a batting surface, KKR batsmen only scored154 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Kolkata Knight Riders struggled for 75-5, but then Andre Russell smashed 45 off 27 balls and helped the side put up a decent score. Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, and Rahul Tripathi got off to a great start but failed to convert it into big scores. Eoin Morgan was once again ineffective as he was dismissed for a duck. The decision of promoting Sunil Narine also did not pay off either. Virender Sehwag took KKR's team management to task. He stated that it was their fault for not experimenting more with the batting order even after similar results.

KKR registered the fifth loss of the season in seven matches

Prithvi Shaw showed his intent of wrapping the game early when he hit 6 boundaries in Shivam Mavi's first over. He became the second batsman to hit six boundaries in an IPL over after Ajinkya Rahane. Pairing up with Shikhar Dhawan, the DC opening batsmen troubled the KKR bowling unit in the Powerplays. Talking about Shaw's batting, the youngster took only 18 balls to score his half-century. This is the fastest fifty in the 14th season of the cash-rich league. With astonishing six boundaries in an over followed by an 18-ball half-century, Shaw helped Delhi Capitals to register their fifth win of the season.

Besides Shaw's scintillating show, Dhawan also anchored the chase as he scored 46 runs in 47 balls. The duo added 132 runs for the first wicket. Prithvi Shaw was also awarded the Man of the Match for his batting masterclass. With this win, Delhi Capitals has now fired to the 2nd spot in the IPL 2021 standings. DC will next face KL Rahul's Punjab Kings at the same venue on Sunday. On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders will play against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 3rd May.
