KL Rahul jumps one spot higher as he is now at no 3 in the ICC T20I batting rankings. Against Australia, KL Rahul scored 81 runs in 3 T20Is. Rahul now has 816 points to his name. The Indian has interchanged places with current Australia T20I captain Aaron Finch. Finch is now at no 4 with 808 points.

Dawid Malan currently leads the list with 915 points. Following Malan is Pakistani batsman Babar Azam. Azam has 871 ranking points to his name. South African cricketer Rassie Van der Dussen is 5th on the rankings list. Rassie has 744 points to his name. No 6 on the list is Aussie player Colin Munro, with 739 points. On no 7 is Munro’s fellow Australian teammate Glenn Maxwell, with 701 points to his name.

Apart from KL Rahul, the only other Indian batsman on this list is Virat Kohli. Kohli jumped one place up to no 7, with 697 points to his name. Kohli had quite a decent outing against Australia in the T20I series. The India captain smashed 134 runs in 3 games, with a strike rate of 142.55 and an average of 44.66. Unfortunately, his most recent knock of 85 was futile as India lost the 3rd T20I against Australia.

No. 9 and No. 10 on the list are Hazratullah Zazai and Eoin Morgan respectively. Zazai has 676 points, while Morgan has 662 points.

Going from strength to strength in the T20I format: KL Rahul

Even though KL Rahul did not meet expectations in the T20I series against Australia, he is one of India’s most consistent performers in the T20I format. This should explain why Rahul was promoted to no 3 in the ICC T20I batting rankings.

In 11 T20I matches, Rahul smashed a total of 404 runs with a superb batting average of 44.88. He was also one of the main contributors in the 5-0 whitewash of New Zealand this year. Rahul smashed 224 runs in 5 games against the Kiwis, with an average of 56.

Prior to this, Rahul scored 99 runs in 3 T20Is against Sri Lanka, with an average of 49.5. His overall T20I record is also a terrific one. In 45 matches, Rahul amassed 1542 runs with an average of 44.05 and a strike rate of 144.92. These stats clearly indicate that Rahul is a vital cog of the Indian National Team.
