India vice-captain KL Rahul is reportedly set to miss the five-match T20I series on the tour of the Caribbean Islands. Since last month, he has missed series against South Africa, Ireland, England, and the ongoing ODI series against the West Indies.
An evening ahead of the first T20I against the Proteas, he picked a groin injury which is why he was ruled out till the England series. The right-hander went to Germany for his groin surgery and was recovering well.
The Karnataka player had recently conveyed a message to his fans that he had a successful surgery and was recovering well.
“Hello everyone. It’s been a tough couple of weeks but the surgery was successful. I’m healing and recovering well. My road to recovery has begun. Thank you for your messages and prayers. See you soon,” he said.
Also, not to forget a video of him practicing in the nets had gone viral on the internet. The Lucknow skipper in the Indian T20 League was facing veteran Jhulan Goswami in the nets.
However, last week, he tested positive for COVID-19 and was sent into isolation. With less than a week left at the start of the five-match series, it is highly unlikely that he will travel with other players.
The players who will travel for the series are Dinesh Karthik, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. On the other hand, Harshal Patel is reported to join the team from USA where he is currently staying.
The first game of the series will be played on July 29 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba. The next two games will be played in St Kitts and the rest will be played in Florida.
