Saurashtra is competing in the Irani Cup 2022 in Rajkot against the rest of India. After winning the toss, the Rest of India elected to bowl first, which rewarded them handsomely. They successfully dismissed the home team at a score of 98 early on the first day.

Post that, it was the complete Sarfaraz Khan show with the bat for the ROI. He walked into bat when his team lost their third wicket in the fifth over itself. Along with captain Hanuma Vihari, he formed a very important partnership.

The Mumbai batter has been in fantastic form in first-class cricket recently. Even in the most difficult conditions, he has been scoring runs left, right, and centre. In the Irani Cup, he maintained his form. He held the innings together for the team and scored his century on the first day. He remained unbeaten on 125 on day one of the match.

His innings ended early on day two at a score of 138 in 178 balls. He looked a little two defence while tackling the morning conditions. Chirag Jani got his wicket with a brilliant in-swinger in the 65th over of the innings. He trapped Sarfaraz LBW.

Sarfaraz has made a strong case for him to earn his India call-up. Fans and the Cricketing fraternity have been lauding the 24-year-old for his brilliant and consistent performances. Many have also opined that the young batter should play for India in the next series.

He finished as one of the top run scorers in the Ranji Trophy 2019-20. Sarfaraz scored 928 runs at an average of 154.66 in six matches and nine innings. The batter scored three centuries and two half-centuries, with the best individual score of 301*.

Sarfaraz's Another hit Sarfaraz's Ranji Trophy season began in 2021-22. He finished the season as the competition's leading scorer, with 982 runs at an average of 122.75. Sarfaraz had four centuries and two half-centuries to his name. Individually, his best score was 275. This included a century in the final against Madhya Pradesh, which Mumbai lost.

His red-hot form continued in the Duleep Trophy 2022 final, where he scored a match-winning 127* for the West Zone and 34 runs in the second innings.
