Pakistan left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi became a star player in world cricket after taking three wickets against arch-rivals India. Last year, during the T20 World Cup, India and Pakistan played each other in Dubai. The Men in Blue had a 100 percent win record against the Men In Green before the encounter, but it changed with Pakistan defeating their Asian rivals by a 10-wicket margin. The Babar Azam-led side won the toss and elected to bowl first.
The team had a great start with Afridi taking the wickets of India openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul in his first two overs. Later on, he took the wicket of the then India skipper Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, in a chat with Pakistani journalist Mazhar Arshad, the 21-year-old said that his favorite wicket was that of KL Rahul. He explained that he wasn't expecting the ball to swing as much as it did at that stage.
"Rahul's wicket was the favourite one. I think I wasn't even expecting the ball to move in that much after pitching. It was my second over only and generally, the ball doesn't move that much in the first couple of overs," said Afridi.
Talking about the game, the Virat Kohli-led side amassed 151/7 with Kohli scoring 57 while wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant got 39. While Shaheen took three wickets, Hasan Ali got two while Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf took one each. In reply, Pakistan openers Mohammad Rizwan (79*) and Babar Azam (68*) made the mockery of Indian bowling as the team went on to win the game by 10 wickets.
Afridi was adjudged Player of the Match for his spell of 3/31 in four overs. This was the first time in the history of the T20 World Cup where Pakistan had beaten India. From 2007 to 2016, India always won against their neighbors.
