Indian selectors are likely to award Prasidh Krishna and Krunal Pandya for their incredible performances in the 2020-21 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Leading Baroda in the tournament, Krunal Pandya glimmered in both departments of the game. The all-rounder scored 388 runs at 129.33, and finished with five wickets in five league stage matches. His run-count included two centuries and as two half-centuries.
Prasidh Krishna, who plays for Karnataka, picked up 14 wickets in the tournament. Pandya, a capped cricketer in the shortest format, is yet to make it to the ODI team. The 29-year-old has amassed 1983 runs and picked up 80 wickets in 66 List A matches. Pandya has also been a member of India A since 2017.

The report further adds that youngsters Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal are likely to be overlooked for the upcoming ODI series against England. Shaw, who lost his spot in the ODI team after a poor run in IPL 2020, was released from the Test squad after the Australia tour. The former U-19 World Cup-winning skipper worked on his game and bounced back more robust in the 2020-21 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The 21-year-old, who led Mumbai to a title victory in the List A tournament, accumulated 827 runs at an average of 165.40. He also scored four centuries, including a double-century. Padikkal, who finished second with 737 runs, became the first Indian cricketer to smash four consecutive List A centuries. In 2019/20, Devdutt Padikkal emerged as the highest run-scorer with 609 runs. However, the youngster was ignored for a place in the India A side which toured New Zealand. One of these two youngsters might be called up if any regular player is rested for the upcoming ODI series.
The India squad for the ODI series against England will be announced this week. The three One Day International games will take place in Pune on March 23, 26, and 28. Both teams will square off in the 3rd T20I of the five-match series on Tuesday, March 16. The series is currently leveled at 1-1.
