However, recently, former Indian captain Virat Kohli reacted to Smriti Mandhana's old statement in which the left-hander said that she wants to achieve great things like Kohli has done for Bangalore.
Reacting to the statement, Kohli couldn't stop himself from laughing and even mouthed a couple of cuss words, which were muted before responding to it seriously.
Kohli said, "This is big franchise pressure. A lot of people take it as fun and games, 'this team doesn't win. Come play when you have so many expectations, we are a big team otherwise, why would we have so many fans if we had some faltu team?"
Bangalore started their Indian T20 League 2023 campaign with a win
Talking about Bangalore's opening match of the Indian T20 League 2023 which was played against the five-time champions Mumbai, the Faf du Plessis-led side registered a comprehensive victory as they defeated the team by 8 wickets.
Asked to bat first, Bangalore bowlers restricted Mumbai on the score of 171 runs. The bowlers got them wickets in the powerplay, and then the spinners kept things tight. Mohammed Siraj and Karn Sharma were the star bowlers for the team.
Chasing the target, the star Bangalore openers, Kohli and du Plessis gave a blistering start to the team and stitched a wonderful 148-run partnership for the first wicket. Both made full use of the powerplay and were dealing in only with boundaries. Kohli remained unbeaten till the end and led Bangalore to the victory.
