The Men in Blue locked horns with Sri Lanka in the second game of the ongoing ODI series on 12 January 2023. The match took place in Eden Gardens, Kolkata. India came to this clash after winning the series opener by 67 runs. Virat Kohli won the player of the match award for his match-winning century.

So, fans were hoping that team India will look to seal the series by winning this game. Speaking of the match, Dasun Shanaka won the toss and chose to bat first. However, Rohit Sharma confirmed that Kuldeep Yadav replaced Yuzvendra Chahal in the final playing XI from the last match.

Both Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj took three wickets in the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka

For the visitors, Pathum Nissanka missed the match due to an injury. Hence, they handed a debut cap to Nuwanindu Fernando. He came out to open the innings with Avishka Fernando. But, Avishka got out early after scoring 20 runs off 17 balls, including four boundaries. Then, Kusal Mendis and Nuwanindu Fernando put up a partnership of 73 runs. On debut, Nuwanindu scored 50 runs off 63 balls, including six boundaries. Meanwhile, Kusal Mendis scored 34 runs off 34 balls, including three fours and one six. Finally, they got bundled out for 215 runs in 39.4 overs.

It was a dream comeback for Kuldeep Yadav. He took three wickets for 51 runs in 10 overs. His last  ODI match was in 2022 in the third and last ODI in Bangladesh. He also managed to take one wicket in that match. Along with him, Mohammed Siraaj took three wickets for 30 runs in 5.4 overs. Apart from them, Axar Patel took one wicket while Umran Malik again took two wickets with the ball. So, fans were happy to see such a complete bowling performance from a considerably inexperienced bowling line-up in the match in Kolkata.
