Former left-arm pacer Irfan Pathan has stated that the Indian team management should play Kuldeep Yadav in the upcoming Test series against England. The Indian cricket team will lock horns with England in a four-match Test series starting from February 05. Chennai will host the first two games, and the remaining two test matches will take place in Ahmedabad.

Off-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been given enough opportunities from the Indian team for a while now. The 26-year-old was also not a part of the Indian test squad in the recently-concluded four-match Test series against Australia. However, veteran bowler Irfan Pathan opines that left-arm spinners like Kuldeep are rare and unique. The former also stated that he is likely to impress everyone in the forthcoming series against England. But there has been a lot of talk surrounding Kuldeep's participation in the England series. The Chinaman spinner has not managed to get chances in the past couple of years, but now he would be hoping to make the most of his opportunities if the management includes him in the playing XI.

Sundar's impactful debut can see Kuldeep wait a bit longer: Irfan Pathan

Kuldeep Yadav is most likely to get a chance in the playing XI for the first Test against England as India will be without the services of Jadeja. The all-rounder has been ruled out because of a thumb injury. Thus, Kuldeep could be the perfect replacement of Jadeja in the team. And as Kuldeep is also desperately waiting for a chance to play XI, Pathan has encouraged the team management to support the youngster.

Irfan Pathan further added that Kuldeep is a unique bowler and India should pick him because of England's horrible record against leg-spinners. Along with Kuldeep, Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar will also be the other two spinners. However, Sundar's impactful debut can see Kuldeep wait a bit longer for his seventh Test.

Kuldeep Yadav last played a Test match against Australia in Sydney in January 2020. Since then the southpaw has been waiting for his chances to play for the country. Yadav has so far picked up 24 wickets to his name in six Tests. Considering that the Chennai track assists spinner, Kuldeep's wait might finally end in the first Test against England at the Chepauk. The legendary pacer Irfan Pathan has also predicted a 2-1 win for India in the Test series.
