Former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed has made a big statement while comparing the captaincy of Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and his Indian counterpart Rohit Sharma. Javed’s statement has come just ahead of the Asia Cup 2023, where the arch-rivals India and Pakistan are set to take on each other on the 2nd of September.
The former pacer said that Babar Azam is a better captain than Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Apart from that, he also spoke about the comparison of Babar’s batting with the former Indian skipper and the modern-day batting great Virat Kohli. He said that Kohli is not as consistent as the men in Green’s skipper.
“Definitely, Babar Azam is a better captain than Rohit Sharma. Babar has earned respect, and the way he has been performing in the team is there to see. I'm sure cricket fans in India are wondering why Rohit is even the captain,” said Javed to ‘Events & Happenings Sports.
"How long is Rohit Sharma going to play? About Kohli, if you compare him with Babar, then he has one outstanding season and then there is a decline. He is a brilliant player but in patches. He is not as consistent as Babar. That is why I'm saying this is Pakistan's best chance to beat India again in a World Cup match," he added.

Furthermore, he also spoke about the high-octane clash scheduled between India and Pakistan in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, in India. The 51-year-old backed Babar Azam’s men to win the World Cup match against India.
"Many times, you head into World Cup thinking this might be the last for a couple of players. This time I feel it is happening to India. When stars become larger than life, it becomes difficult for team management to make decisions. That is why, by looking and comparing all the departments, Pakistan have a very good chance this time," he said.
Although these statements from the former Pakistan pacer didn’t go down well with a lot of cricket fans; they immediately took to social media to remind him about the home series defeats of Pakistan under Babar Azam’s captaincy.
