Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in a Super 4 match of the Asia Cup on Wednesday. Haris Rauf rattled the batting order of Bangladesh restricting them for just 193 runs. They were also troubled by Naseem Shah as the Shakib-al Hasan-led side lost to Pakistan in the Super 4s. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, none of the Bangladeshi batters were unable to get going against Pakistan's star pace attack.
In the Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan’s fast bowlers continued their dominant performance against Bangladesh in their first Super Four match. They had previously displayed their dominance against Nepal and India. Bangladesh struggled early in their innings, with batters like Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Litton Das, and Mohammad Naim departing early on in the innings.
Haris Rauf shatters Bangladesh's batting lineup
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first on the batting-friendly pitch of Lahore stadium. They were reduced to 47 for 4 during the first 10 overs and again lost six wickets for 47 runs. Haris Rauf terrorised the batters with sheer pace and accuracy while Naseem also added seam and swing to it. Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim’s 100-run partnership provided some recovery, the former scored 53 runs off 57 balls and the wicketkeeper scored 64 runs. But the lower-order couldn’t capitalize and were bundled out for just 193 runs. Rauf picked up 4 for 19 and Naseem Shah picked 3 for 34.
In reply, the hosts lost Fakhar Zaman early in the innings, he departed scoring 20 runs. Skipper Babar Azam failed to make a mark and the hosts were 74-2 from where Imam-ul-Haq's 78 runs off 84 balls and Mohammad Rizwan's unbeaten 63 runs off 79 balls helped Pakistan to chase the target under 40 overs. The skipper ailed his team's pace bowling unit, saying the fast bowlers would boost the side's confidence ahead of the India clash. He said, "Credit to all the boys, especially the first 10 overs, first Shaheen and then Rauf... This win will give us confidence, we are always ready for a big match. We will give our 100 per cent in the next match."
The 28-year-old further said, when asked about if the team is feeling any pressure, "I don't think so. We are just giving our best in every match."
