Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul is set to feature in the forthcoming Asia Cup. He is currently in NCA, Bangalore, rehabbing from an injury for the last few months and looks set to return to international cricket after gaining full fitness. The former Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter has started batting in the nets and a few days back he was seen doing keeping drills as well.

Previously, it was reported that he, along with another Indian teammate, Shreyas Iyer, is likely to miss the Asia Cup. However, according to recent reports, the batter is completely fit and eyeing a return in the Asia Cup. It will be a good addition to the middle order for the Men in Blue because Rahul will give an extra batting option in the top 4 as well along with keeping.

Rahul to return for Asia Cup

KL Rahul, who has been out since the Indian Premier League (IPL) owing to a thigh injury that necessitated surgery, is now "completely fit and available for selection." The Asia Cup will be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17, with India beginning their campaign on September 2 against Pakistan in Pallekele.

Rahul, who captained the LSG in IPL-2023, was out of action for a long period due to a serious thigh injury, which he sustained while fielding in a game against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Rahul has been posting fitness updates on social media in recent days, in which he can be seen batting and keeping wickets at the nets. According to a source, "The coaches and medical experts at the BCCI's National Cricket Academy in Bangalore are satisfied with Rahul's progress/recovery. He will be available for selection for the Asia Cup." Rahul has begun batting in the nets and was taking strength and conditioning drills at the NCA, according to the Indian Cricket Board's medical update on July 21.

While Rahul is well and ready, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer may now miss the Asia Cup as well due to a back ailment that has persisted despite surgery.
