Virat Kohli praised Kyle Jamieson for his WTC final performance and stated that the youngster deserved the man of the match award. New Zealand outshined Team India in the final of the ICC World Test Championship on Wednesday. Kohli, one of the best batsmen in the modern era, was removed twice by New Zealand speed merchant Kyle Jamieson in the final.

Virat Kohli shares a good bond with Kyle Jamieson. The tall, lanky pacer is one of the newest recruits of RCB in the Indian Premier League. The RCB fast bowler got the better of his captain twice in the World Test Championship final. Virat Kohli was questioned during a post-match interaction about Kyle Jamieson's match-winning performance in the summit clash. The captain appreciated Jamieson's performance and stated that he is coming up nicely in international cricket.

Kyle Jamieson has already picked five five-wicket hauls in 16 Test innings

After just eight Test matches, Kyle Jamieson already bagged 46 wickets at a measly average of 14.17. So far, only players George Lohmann and John Ferris, who played in the late 19th century, have achieved this feat. They had taken more than 20 Test wickets at a better average. Remarkably, New Zealand speed merchant Kyle Jamieson has already picked five five-wicket hauls in 16 Test innings. The youngster's best match figures are 11-117, which he claimed against Pakistan in January.

Talking about New Zealand's performance in ICC events, the side had lost the chance to win a trophy in their last two attempts. This includes the 2015 and 2019 World Cup finals. However, this time senior batters Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor made sure nothing of that sort happened again. The duo remained in the crease till the very end and made sure the team got over the line. Both the batsmen formed an unbeaten 95-run partnership for the third wicket. As a result, New Zealand has taken home the winning prize money of $1.60 million (approximately Rs 11.86 crore) and the ICC Test mace for the first time in the game's history. NZ has also consolidated its position at the top of the ICC Test team rankings after the iconic win.
