In a recent interview, Kyle Jamieson opened up about his experience of playing with Kohli in the IPL. He refused the rumors that Kohli asked to bowl to him with Duke's ball in the nets session of IPL 2021.
The story had grabbed headlines leading to the World Test Championship final. Dan Christian had detailed how Virat Kohli asked Jamieson to bowl to him with red-ball in nets. But Jamieson set the record straight and explained that it was not described accurately. The interaction was not as interesting as it was made out to be.
According to Kyle Jamieson, Virat Kohli had not exactly asked him to bowl with Duke's ball in the nets. He believes Dan had added some extra things to make up an interesting story. Instead, Jamieson and Kohli were discussing Duke's ball at the start of IPL 2021. Both of them had some dukes ball with them for practice.
Kyle Jamieson further explained the conversation that he had with his RCB captain Virat Kohli. He stated that Virat Kohli had not tried to get him to bowl with the duke's ball in nets. Kohli had just asked him to look at the back end if he wanted to get some training. It did not feel like he was insinuating anything to Jamieson. But if he was then Kohli is the only one who can clarify it. Nevertheless, it was a funny story that had grabbed the headlines.
Kyle Jamieson comments on whether his RCB experience helped him against Kohli
Young Kiwi bowler, Kyle Jamieson had performed exceptionally in the World Test Championship final. He had won the Man of the Match award as well for his performance.
Jamieson had successfully dismissed Virat Kohli in both the innings at Southampton. He admitted that it was exciting to play against Kohli in the WTC final.
Jamieson stated it was a good feeling to spend time with him in the change rooms and to share a laugh in the middle of the match. Virat Kohli is a world-class player. Jamieson admitted to learning a lot from the way Kohli handles himself on and off the field.
Many experts believe that Kyle Jamieson’s time at the RCB helped him succeed against Kohli. But Jamieson contradicted that opinion. According to him, the performance was not specific to Kohli and the time he had spent with him. It was nice to be friendly with someone of Kohli’s stature during the championship final. But he doesn't think that factored in to dictate his performance.
