In a thrilling transfer drama, football star Kylian Mbappe appears likely to stay at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). While he had been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid, it has now been reported that he will sign a new contract with PSG when his current contract expires at the end of the season.

Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, reported this major update on his Twitter handle. As per the tweet, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been informed about the update. "Kylian Mbappé will STAY at Paris Saint-Germain. He’s definitely not joining Real Madrid this summer, the final decision has been made and communicated to Florentino Perez. #Mbappé," read the tweet.

The French player has announced that he will make a final announcement on his next move this weekend, with PSG almost finishing their season

Here is the tweet

"I can't say about my future but you'll know very soon… it's almost decided. This isn't the right moment but yes, yes… my decision is almost done," Mbappe was quoted saying by latestly.com

It has also been revealed that the new three-year contract offered by PSG would make him the highest-paid footballer in the world, with a monthly salary of £4 million, which is twice his previous pay. Not only that, but the agreement includes a signing bonus of up to £100 million. The 23-year will also have provisions for significant incentives for goals, the Ballon d'Or trophy, and Champions League victory.

This is a disappointing development for Real Madrid, who had targeted two players. Neither of the two has joined them. They had their eyes set on Erling Haaland, who has agreed to join Manchester City. On the other hand, Mbappe has opted to stay at PSG.

Karim Benzema has been in phenomenal form for Real Madrid this season, leading the team's assault. Meanwhile, PSG has already won the Ligue 1 championship this season, but they still have a game against Metz later on Saturday evening.
