In what was looking quite predictable, India Women’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has been fined with 3 demerit points for her ultra-aggressive behaviour in the third ODI against Bangladesh. Apart from this, she was also fined 75 per cent of her match fees for showing disrespect to the umpire’s decision and hitting stumps with the bat in frustration.

Subsequently, some cricket fans came up with many contrasting reactions after this news. They took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to come up with various opinions on the punishment given to Harmanpreet Kaur for her statement and behaviour on the field.

Notably, Kaur’s frustration did not end only on the field and she went on to call out umpiring standards in the post-match presentation. She also termed the umpiring ‘pathetic’ and registered her dissent in a state of anger, disappointment, and frustration.

"A lot of learning from this game. Even apart from the cricket, the type of umpiring happening there, we were surprised. The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we'll have to make sure we have to deal with this kind of umpiring and accordingly, we'll have to prepare ourselves,” she said during the post-match presentation.

"They batted really well, batted according to the situation. They were taking those singles which were very crucial. In between, we leaked a few runs but when we were batting, we controlled the game very well. But, as I mentioned earlier, some pathetic umpiring was done, and we are really disappointed about some decisions given by the umpires,” she added later.

On the other hand, Bangladesh skipper Nigar expressed her disappointment over Harmanpreet’s behaviour during the photo session after the post-match presentation when she said ‘Bring the umpires too’.

"It is totally her problem. I have nothing to do with it. As a player, she could have shown better manners. I can't tell you what happened, but it didn't feel right to be there with my team. It wasn't the right environment. That's why we went back. Cricket is a game of discipline and respect,” said Nigar while referring to the incident
