India batting extraordinary VVS Laxman feels that if Indian cricket team needs to succeed in each format, at that point the association between BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and National Cricket Academy (NCA) Head Rahul Dravid is of most extreme significance.
Ganguly was delegated BCCI's 39th president last October, while Dravid was chosen as top of the NCA (National Cricket Academy) in July a year ago.
According to Laxman, it is a great thing! The collaboration of BCCI President Ganguly and National Cricket Academy (NCA) Head Dravid is just amazing.
“If the Indian team wants to be successful in every format, then this partnership is of utmost importance. I think everyone is important, the team captain, NCA Head and BCCI President," VVS Laxman said on Star Sports show ‘Cricket Connected.
Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly together made their Test debuts
Curiously, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid had made their Test debuts together at the notable Lord's Cricket Ground in 1996. Ganguly, who crushed a century on that match, went through how he was standing in Lord's gallery, expecting Dravid to score a hundred in that match as well.
Ganguly was heard saying that he was too engrossed in his performance to be honest. When Dravid went into bat, Ganguly was already at 70 odd. He recalled his 100 scoring shot which was a cover drive through point and Dravid was at the non-striker's end. Ganguly had finished the day at 131, and got out an hour after tea while Dravid carried on.
"He came back the next morning and got 95. I was standing at the Lord's balcony hoping that he would get a hundred. Already I have seen him play at the under 15s, then Ranji Trophy together. I had seen his debut at Eden Gardens and then seeing his debut at Lord's. So, I watched his career closely. It would have been great had we both got hundreds that day," Ganguly had said.
