London Spirit and Manchester Originals locked horns in the Eliminator game of The Hundred Men's 2022 competition in Southampton. Spirits won the toss and elected to bat first in the knockout game. They had a poor start as Adam Rossington (0) bagged a silver duck on the second ball of the game. He was caught behind by Phil Salt off Josh Little.

Zak Crawley and Ben McDermott stitched a partnership of 69 runs off just 43 balls. The former scored 36 off just 23 balls before losing his off-stump to Pual Walter. In came Dan Lawrence and he added 40 runs for the second wicket alongside McDermott. McDermott scored 59 off just 38 balls including eight fours and a six before being caught at deep midwicket by Tom Lammonby off Walter.

Skipper Eoin Morgan's poor form with the bat continued as he was caught at mid-off by Tristan Stubbs on the next ball. Ravi Bopara's unbeaten 34 off just 16 balls helped the Blue Brigade reach 150/7 at the end of the innings.

The target wasn't enough to contain Manchester Originals

In reply, the Men In Black openers, Phil Salt and stand-in skipper Laurie Evans provided a dream start. In 50 balls, they scored 101 runs to end the hopes of Eoin Morgan's men to reach the final. During the partnership, Evans did most of the scoring. Meanwhile, Phil Salt didn't score at a different pace from his opening partner as he scored 29 off just 18 balls. On the other hand, Evans scored 72 off just 34 balls including seven fours and three sixes.

Even though the team lost regular wickets after the opening partnership, they managed to chase down the target with five wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare. With this win, they qualified for the final of the second season of the competition. The Old Trafford-based team will face Trent Rockets in the final on September 3 at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London. Notably, both teams didn't play the final last year which is why there will be a new name on the trophy.
