Lucknow beat Delhi in a low-scoring thriller by six wickets to pick their third consecutive win of the season. Lucknow won the toss and made the obvious choice of bowling first. Delhi had the perfect start as Prithvi Shaw went berserk from ball one. David Warner was holding one end but was not the most elegant in his first game of the season. Warner was still in single digits, while Shaw went on to score a half-century.

Krishnappa Gowtham then dismissed Shaw for 61 in 34 balls with the faintest of edges that was caught in Quinton de Kock's gloves. David Warner also followed soon after as he fell to Ravi Bishnoi for just four runs. Delhi slowed down drastically as they lost their third wicket to Ravi Bishnoi as well. Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan were very slow with their approach and took a while to settle in. They fired a bit, in the end, to help Delhi to 149 runs. Pant scored 39 runs in 36 balls and Khan scored 36 runs in 28 balls.

While chasing 150, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock gave Lucknow a stable start. They added 74 runs before KL Rahul (24 runs of 25 balls) fell to Kuldeep Yadav. De Kock continued to play some genuine cricketing strokes as he reached his half-century with an elegant stroke on the off-side. Towards the end, Delhi suffered a big blow as Anrich Nortje was taken off the attack for bowling two dangerous waist-high no balls.

After the injury, Kuldeep Yadav completed Nortje's over and took the wicket of well set De Kock. He scored 80 runs in 52 balls and hit nine fours and two sixes before departing. Lucknow lost another wicket before Ayush Badoni finished off the game with a four and a six in the last over.
