India defeated South Africa by 48 runs in the third match of the five-match T20I series. Rishabh Pant's team got off to a strong start with the bat, which set up the innings wonderfully for them. However, they slowed down at the end but posted a respectable score on a good batting pitch. The bowlers followed it up with regular wickets to comfortably win the match.

In Vizag, India lost the toss and was asked to bat first. This worked well for them, as Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad took off to a flying start. While Gaikwad took on the bowlers from the start, Kishan gave him perfect support. They helped the team to reach 57 runs in the powerplay. Post that, the southpaw also had found his rhythm, and Gaikwad reached his half-century.

They added 97 runs in the partnership in 10 overs. Keshav Maharaj got the breakthrough wicket of Gaikwad (57). Shreyas Iyer (14) and Kishan (54) then added a small partnership of 31 runs until the 13th over. However, once the two were dismissed, the team slowed significantly. Rishabh Pant (six) and Dinesh Karthik (six) did not contribute much, but Hardik Pandya (31) capitalised on a missed opportunity early in the innings. He batted superbly in the final overs, helping his team to 179 runs.

The Indian bowlers put pressure on batters from the start of the next innings. South Africa scored 38 runs in the powerplay thanks to early swing and Pant's excellent bowling changes. In the process, they lost two wickets. The Proteas could not build any significant partnerships in their innings despite the wicket being good to bat on. Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel were the star performers as they got rid of the inform batters.

Half of the South African team was dismissed for a total of 71 in 11 overs. David Miller (three) and Heinrich Klaasen (29) were expected to do well, but they were unable to do so. The team kept losing wickets and never had a chance to win the match. Harshal Patel took the final wicket on the first ball of the last over for a team score of131 runs. With this win, India took the scoreline to 2-1 and kept hopes to win the series alive.
