On 18 December 2022, Lionel Messi’s Argentina will take on defending champions, France in the FIFA World Cup. It will be the final of this tournament that will take place in the Lusail Stadium. However, it will be a huge occasion for Lionel Messi as it is the last World Cup for him. Even, fans have also high hopes to see him with this title this time around.

So, far Messi has enjoyed a great tournament as he has managed five goals and three assists. His contributions were instrumental as Argentina managed to reach the final of this tournament after 2014. However, during the semi-final clash against Croatia, Lionel Messi was seen in some discomfort. Now, ahead of the final, Argentina fans became worried as the Argentine superstar skipped a training session.

According to recent reports in Foot Mercato, Messi has been experiencing discomfort in his hamstring. So, he might get considered to be fit for the mega final. However, after the semi-final clash, Messi said that he has been feeling really good and enough strong to face every match.       

Lionel Messi said: “I am enjoying this a lot. I am feeling really good, I feel strong enough to face every match. We knew we would have to run. We prepared in a very good way. I feel very happy about this World Cup. I can help the squad.”

Speaking of the match against Croatia, Lionel Messi scored the opener in the 34th minute from the penalty spot. Then, in the 39th minute, Julian Alvarez scored the second goal as it was a great solo effort from the young striker. Thus, the first half ended 2-0. In the second half, Alvarez made it 3-0 in the 69th minute. Lionel Messi came up with a dazzling ball into the box for Alvarez which he did not fail to score. Finally, the game ended 3-0 in favor of them and Argentina qualified for the final.
