Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked to a number of European teams following his decision to leave Premier League club Manchester United. Paris Saint-Germain is also interested in signing the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, which is causing Lionel Messi concerns.
According to reports, the Argentine star is concerned with the signing of his archrival Cristiano Ronaldo. The former has even threatened to quit PSG if the latter is signed. Ronaldo's future remains unknown, as Manchester United are keen on keeping him at Old Trafford.
Because of their passionate rivalry, the two veterans have dominated the football world for over a decade, and Messi seems to desire the same. He is expected to rejoin his previous club Barcelona if PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi signs Ronaldo.
Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo's agent, has offered his client to a number of teams, including Bayern Munich and Chelsea. As of yet, no such conversations have been reported between PSG and Mendes.
In terms of the future of the club, Ronaldo's prospective transfer to Paris might help the club further boost its standing. Sponsorships, ticket sales, and even sporting projects will benefit greatly. However, the club would have to first persuade Messi to make the transfer.
In the meantime, Chelsea, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Napoli are all strongly linked with signing Cristiano Ronaldo before the summer transfer window closes on September 1. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who came to Manchester United a year ago after leaving the Italian side Juventus, fared well for himself, scoring 18 goals in 30 league matches.
However, the team struggled, ending sixth in the Premier League. As a result, the Red Devils were denied entry into the UEFA Champions League. Ronaldo is under contract with Manchester United until June 2023.
PSG fired manager Mauricio Pochettino earlier this week after 18 months in charge. The Argentine failed to win the UCL, despite having the stellar trio of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar Jr. Christophe Galtier will replace Pochettino at the Ligue 1 club.
