List of Indian wrestlers who won Gold Medal for India in Commonwealth Games 2022

The Indian wrestlers have a total of 12 medals combining Gold, Silver, and Bronze in the Commonwealth Games 2022.

The Indian wrestlers have won a total of 12 medals combining Gold, Silver, and Bronze in the Commonwealth Games 2022. Out of these, six players have won Gold medals. Players such as Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, Deepak Punia, Naveen, Ravi Dahiya, Anshu Malik, Mohit Grewal, Deepak Nehra, Pooja Gehlot, Divya Kakran, and Pooja Sihag participated in the event. However, only Phogat, Malik, Punia (Bajrang and Deepak), Naveen, and Dahiya won a Gold medal.

Talking about Sakshi, this was her maiden Gold medal in the multi-sport event. This achievement has come at the back of her failure in the Tokyo Olympics last year. On the other hand, Bajrang won his second consecutive Gold while Deepak beat two-time Gold Medalist Muhammad Inam from Pakistan to bag the highest price.

Vinesh came back from the lows of the Olympics and became the first Indian woman to win three successive Gold medals in the competition. Dahiya easily beat the Tokyo Olympics silver medalist to win the highest price. Naveen was the second athlete to win God after beating a Pakistani opponent. The former beat Mohammed Sharif in the final.

Winning a Gold feels amazing: Sakshi Malik

The women’s freestyle wrestler Sakshi Malik, after the win, said she barely slept after the win and that winning the medal feels amazing. She revealed that she had her share of ups and downs in the last one year.

“Winning a gold at the Commonwealth Games feels amazing. I have barely slept post my win and congratulations keep pouring in,” said Sakshi about her triumph in a press conference on Saturday.

“I have had my share of ups and downs in this time. Not getting a gold in the last few years has been disheartening, par maine haar nahi maani. My family and husband (wrestler Satyawart Kadian) supported me throughout this phase and I did not give up till the very end,” she added.
