In a surprising turn of events, the high-octane India vs Pakistan clash in ODI World Cup 2023 is likely to be rescheduled. Earlier, the match was scheduled for October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But now, the media reports have learned that it is clashing with the first day of Navratri.
A board official spoke to the media regarding the concern of rescheduling this big clash of the tournament. He also explained the reasons behind this decision. It could be a massive loss to the spectators and travelling supporters since the hotel prices have been shot up for the initial date of the match.
“We are mulling the options that we have and a decision will be taken soon. We have been told by the security agencies that a high-profile game like India vs Pakistan, for which thousands of travelling fans are expected to reach Ahmedabad, should be avoided since they will be stretched because of Navratri,” said a senior Indian Cricket Board official to the Indian Express.
Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah also wrote to the state cricket associations that will be involved in hosting the World Cup matches. In his letter, Shah asked the associations to attend a meeting in New Delhi on July 27, Thursday.
“I feel it will be in the best interest of all concerned that we meet again to exchange notes and take stock of any issue which needs discussion and decision. Accordingly, you are hereby requested to attend a meeting of the World Cup hosting associations,” wrote Jay Shah in his letter to the concerned state cricket associations.
Talking about cricket, both India and Pakistan are currently busy with their respective bilateral assignments. India are set to lock horns with West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series against West Indies on Thursday. Pakistan, on the other hand, are currently in action in the second Test of the two-match series against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.
This news and the media reports about rescheduling drew a lot of reactions as soon as fans came to know about it. Subsequently, they took to Twitter and responded with contrasting opinions on the rescheduling of this highly anticipated World Cup encounter.

Now people who have booked expensive flights will definitely need a hospital bed

But people had already booked expensive tickets and hotels? That will hurt for sure.
