Former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar believes that having a player like Lockie Ferguson in the playing XI can be beneficial for KKR. It’s has been an incredibly awful season for the Kolkata Knight Riders, as they have won just one out of five games this season. The side is currently placed at the bottom of the points table. KKR skipper Eoin Morgan himself has been the biggest disappointment. The Southpaw has just scored 45 runs from five innings. Kolkata will need to show more aggression at the top order considering Shubman Gill has also been a failure. After changing their base to Ahmedabad, Eoin Morgan & the team will be keen to win the next match when they face KL Rahul’s PBKS tonight.
While KKR won just one out of their five opening matches, Punjab has emerged victorious on two occasions in as many games. Punjab Kings are placed at the fifth position in the IPL table with four points. KL Rahul and his team are coming into the match after defeating the defending champions Mumbai Indians by nine wickets. On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders were beaten by Chennai Super Kings in their last encounter.
You could see Ferguson provide something different to the bowling attack: Ajit Agarkar
Ajit Agarkar added that Lockie Ferguson should find a spot in the Kolkata Knight Riders’ playing XI. Although the batting line-up is brimming with talent, the veteran reckoned that KKR is not playing well enough. He added that the Kolkata-based franchise has the talent in their arsenal to post match-winning totals. The former Indian pacer also indicated that Lockie Ferguson should come into the team in place of either Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, or Sunil Narine. Ajit Agarkar further claimed that the New Zealand pacer provides something different to the KKR bowling unit. He signed off by stating that Ferguson has pace and can also take wickets.
Lockie Ferguson was roped into the KKR squad in the year 2019. The Kiwi all-rounder had earlier represented Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017, where he picked 3 wickets in 4 games. The 29-year-old now has 11 scalps in 14 IPL matches. Ferguson has played just five games for KKR. In 2020, he played 5 games and picked up 6 wickets that also included a 3-wicket haul.
