MS Dhoni & Co. are going to be without the services of Lungi Ngidi and Jason Behrendorff in their second match against Punjab Kings. The game is going to take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday, April 16. The yellow army didn't make a great start to the ongoing season. They lost to Delhi Capitals (DC) by seven wickets.

After being asked to bat first by the Delhi Capitals, Chennai managed 188 runs for seven wickets. Suresh Raina sailed their ship with a half-century on a comeback after his side lost the early wickets of Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Some massive blows from Sam Curran at the death made sure that the Chennai Super Kings posted a competitive score on the board.

CSK roped in Behrendorff as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood

Delhi Capitals quickly chased down the target with eight balls left after quickfire half-centuries from Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw. Talking about the CSK pacers, Shardul Thakur scalped two wickets, but he went for 53 runs in 3.4 overs at an economy rate of 14.50. Dwayne Bravo also managed to claim the wicket of Prithvi Shaw. As far as Lungi and Behrendorff are concerned, Stephen Fleming, the CSK head coach, talked about the development in the post-match press conference. The South African pacer is currently serving his quarantine period. He returned midway from South Africa's three-match ODI series against Pakistan. Proteas seamer Lungi Ngidi has been with the Chennai Super Kings since the 2018 season. He has so far claimed 20 wickets in 11 IPL matches.

On the other hand, Behrendorff has been included in the team as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood. This will be Behrendorff's second IPL season. He has earlier represented Mumbai Indians in 2019, where he played five games and picked as many wickets. Josh Hazlewood pulled out of the tournament, citing the bio-bubble fatigue. Apart from Josh Hazlewood, Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) Mitchell Marsh and Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) Josh Philippe have also pulled out of the IPL. Chennai Super Kings bought Hazlewood for INR 2 crore in IPL 2020 auction. Although he did not feature for the team consistently last season, Hazlewood was retained by CSK ahead of the IPL 2021 auction. He has played in just three IPL games so far, picking up one wicket at an economy rate of 6.4.
