The star CSK all-rounder and England Test captain, Ben Stokes has faced a big loss in his IPL salary as the yellow franchise is set to cut his salary from the price he was bought for this season. Notably, Ben Stokes could play only two matches out of the 14 league matches, CSK played in the tournament.
He moved back to England before the first qualifier against Gujarat Titans. The CSK had picked Stokes in a massive amount of INR 16.25 crores. Later on, he had to leave the tournament mid-way due to fitness issues owing to the knee injury that also let him not bowl.
In the two matches, Ben Stokes played for CSK, he also failed to impress with the bat as he could score only 7 and 8 runs respectively in two games.
Meanwhile, the franchise has decided to impose a deduction of 20 percent in the England skipper’s salary from his IPL price. According to a provision of the Indian Premier League, if a player misses making it to the playing, he is on the verge of facing a pay cut of up to 20 percent.
So, calculating for Ben Stokes, he will lose INR 23.20 Lakhs per match which sums up to INR 2.78 Crores for the 12 matches he missed in the league stage of the tournament.
Chennai Super Kings to face Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 final without Ben Stokes
Speaking of the Chennai Super Kings, they’ll now face the defending champions Gujarat Titans in the final of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League 2023. The four-time champions will be eyeing to win the tournament the fifth time and to jointly become the most successful team in the history of the tournament alongside the Mumbai Indians who have won the tournament five times.
On the other hand, the defending champions GT will be looking for their second consecutive title win after the historic triumph in their debut IPL season last year in IPL 2022.
