On 18 January 2023, Sunrisers Eastern Cape took on MI Cape Town in the ongoing SA20 league. It was the 12th match of the tournament that took place in Cape Town. Both teams were looking to strengthen their position in the table by winning this clash. But, Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the match, thanks to a blistering knock from Marco Jansen.

Speaking of the match, Surisers Eastern Cape won the toss and opted to field first. For MI Cape Town, Dewald Brevis and Ryan Rickelton came out to open the innings. However, Brevis failed to score big as he got out for six runs off eight balls. Rickelton scored 46 runs off 36 balls, including four boundaries and one six. He batted at a strike rate of 127.77.

Then, Grant Roelofsen scored 56 runs off 36 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. In the end, Delano Potgieter scored 21* runs off 13 balls, including one four and two sixes. Along with him, Odeon Smith scored 25** runs off 13 balls, including three fours and one six. Thus, they scored 171 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Roelof van der Merwe and Ottniel Baartman took two wickets each for the Eastern Cape. Marco Jansen failed to take any wickets as he conceded 29 runs in four overs.

In reply, Sunrisers Eastern Cape were struggling at 91 runs for five wickets in 12.1 overs. But, Marco Jansen surprised everyone as he hit some big shots. He scored 66 runs off 27 balls, including three fours and seven sixes. Jansen also smashed Rashid Khan for 28 runs in one over. Thus, they managed to chase the target down in 19.3 overs with two wickets in the bag. For MI Cape Town, Kagiso Rabada was the star of the show as he took three wickets for 34 runs in four overs. After that innings, fans went crazy and shared their thoughts on social media platforms.
