After going down 2-0 in the ODI series, India has no chance whatsoever to make a comeback. With only one ODI left to play, it will now only be a matter of pride for the blue army. In the first ODI held in SCG, Australia batted first and posted a huge total of 374. India, in reply, could only muster a total of 308. In the 2nd ODI, held again in SCG, Australia put up 389 runs on the board. To this, India managed to put up 338 runs. However, they were still miles away from the desired total, and hence, lost the match and the series.

With the next ODI set to take the stage tomorrow in Canberra, India would look to make some changes in the playing XI. Kohli and co would be desperate to win the last ODI against Australia in order to end their losing streak.

The Australian batting line-up has been quite formidable this series. Both the openers have batted tremendously well, with Finch bagging a century in the 1st ODI. Maxwell has also caught fire, smashing balls out of the park in both the ODIS. However, Australia’s standout batsman so far has been Steve Smith. With 2 centuries in 2 matches, Smith has smashed an outstanding 209 runs in 2 matches. One Australian player who has caught the eye is Marnus Labushchagne. Marnus’ quick-fire knock of 70 off 61 was pivotal to post a total of 389 in the 2nd ODI.

Labuschagne feels Australia will have an advantage over India in the test series

Marnus believes that Australia will have a significant advantage over India ahead of the upcoming Test Series. He feels so because Australia has clearly dominated India in the ODI series. It will act as a major confidence booster for the Australian side.

He also believes that the experience Aussies have in the red-ball format will give them an edge over India. It is because at least 7 Australian players have played First-Class cricket in the form of Sheffield Shield. None of the Indian players, meanwhile, has played a single First-Class match since March.

With the 3rd ODI set to feature tomorrow, Kohli and the team would want to win this one. Not only will this motivate them, but also push them to make a comeback in the T20I and Test Series. The T20I series is underway on 4th December. The Test series is set to take the stage on 17 December.
