The 2023 men's ODI World Cup will start on October 5 in Ahmedabad, with games taking place at 10 different venues, and conclude on November 19 with the championship match, which will also be played in Ahmedabad. On November 15 and 16, the semi-finals will take place in Mumbai and Kolkata.
The major tournament will feature a total of 10 teams, the first eight of whom have previously qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League. Over the course of 46 days, the 45 league games and the three playoff games will be played in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune. There will be reserve days for the final and both semi-finals. The tournament's six-day league games will get underway at 10:30 IST. All other contests are day-night affairs that begin at 2:00 pm IST.
However, there is a huge twist that the Apex Cricket Council has cleared straight forward if there comes a scenario where India has to face Pakistan in the Semi-Finals, then the match will be only played at Eden Garden and not in Mumbai. This decision has been made considering Maharashtra Government's firm stand that they do not allow Pakistan artist or players to carry out their professional activities anywhere in Maharashtra.
Here is how Twitter reacted to this decision made by the Apex cricket council:
Maharashtra is firm - never allow Pakistan play in the state.

Yeah last time someone visited Mumbai from Pakistan it was disaster.

Hoping it is Pakistan then because India deserves to play in a big stadium for the semis. Wankhede is too small and most tickets will be sold on the black market.

Playing pak in 3rd match gave extra time to analyze them abt our player's no benefit to us bcz we analyze on field when match slips from hand.

The Apex Cricket Council announced the squad just 100 days before the tournament. In contrast, the schedules for the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales were made public more than a year in advance.
The tournament will include ten teams competing against one another once, with the top four teams advancing to the semifinals. The format will remain the same as it was in 2019. India earned the right to host the competition, while South Africa, Afghanistan, Australia, England, Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Pakistan qualified by placing in the top eight of the 2020–2023 World Cup Super League.
