Speaking of the match between Delhi and Bangalore, the latter’s skipper Smriti Mandhana won the flip of the coin and asked Delhi to bat first at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Batting first, Delhi’s opening pair of skipper Meg Lanning and blistering batter Shafali Verma stitched a mammoth partnership of 162 runs for the first wicket. Lanning played an amazing knock of 72 runs off 43 balls with 14 boundaries to her name alongside Shafali’s blistering knock of 84 runs off just 45 balls with 10 boundaries and four sixes.
Other than these two, Marizanne Kapp and Jemimah Rodrigues also contributed with the knock of 39 and 22 runs respectively. On the back of the batters’ excellence, Delhi posted a big total of 223 runs for the loss of only two wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
While defending the target, the young and sensational left-arm pacer Tara Norris scalped five wickets by conceding only 29 runs in her spell of five overs. Whereas, Alice Capsey and Shikha Pandey scalped 2 and 1 wicket respectively. Eventually, Delhi won the match by a decent margin of 60 runs having Tara Norris as the ‘player of the match for her match-defining bowling heroics.
