The much-awaited 16th edition of the Indian T20 League kicked off on Friday, March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, ahead of the first match, former legendary South African cricketer AB de Villiers named his four teams that will make it to the playoffs in the cash-rich league.

Earlier, many former cricketers and experts already made their predictions for the tournament. However, the latest to do the same is de Villiers. He picked his former team Bangalore in one of his four picks. The other three teams are Chennai, Hyderabad and Gujarat. It'd be interesting to see whether his prediction will come true or not.

Hardik Pandya batting at No.4 in my opinion is a little high: AB de Villiers

Meanwhile, the former cricketer also talked about the Gujarat-based franchise's skipper Hardik Pandya and said that he should not come to bat at no.4 and advised him to rather bat below as the allrounder is more suited to finish the innings. He also reminded the star all-rounder that he has David Miller in the team and Rashid Khan down the order and mentioned that Hardik should come to bat at no.5.

“Hardik Pandya batting at No.4 in my opinion is a little high. In an ideal world, I would like to have him at No.5 or 6. But I think No.5 is the perfect position for him. If it can balance out with the right-left (combination) and the match situation, I don't think there is a better position for him. You have got David Miller around him, Tewatia, and Rashid Khan down the order at 7. I would like to see them break up the two lefties. Have Hardik at No.5, Miller at No.4, and Tewatia at No.6,” de Villiers said on Jio Cinema.

de Villiers was recently seen in Bangalore's unbox event at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru where the franchise retired the jersey no.17 in honor of respect for him. Former Bangalore's batter Chris Gayle's jersey no.333 was also got retired by the franchise.  Bangalore will look to get their hands on the trophy for the first time in 15 years this time.
