Mayank Agarwal has been in the news as it was recently reported that he might be removed from Punjab's captaincy for the next season of the Indian T20 League. However, the franchise has issued a statement saying that the rumours are false and baseless. In the midst of all this, Agarwal has spoken about his comeback to the Indian team.

For the unversed, he was dropped from the Test team after his dismal time with the bat in the cash-rich league. However, he was recalled after Rohit Sharma tested positive for COVID 19 but didn't get to play the game. The last time he played a game for India was the pink-ball Test against Sri Lanka in March this year. Meanwhile, Mayank has said that he hasn't given up on making a comeback in the team.

"I am somebody who isn't going to give up. I am going to keep chasing it and improve my game with each passing day. I will be very happy with whatever comes my way, but my aspirations and dreams never die. It's about going out there, improving and ticking all those boxes,” Mayank Agarwal told ESPNCricinfo.

The Karnataka player has added that he has worked on his batting in the last few months. The 31-year-old has explained that he has started playing reverse and conventional sweep shots. Agarwal also said that his scoring areas have widened which is giving him the desired results.

"In the last four months, I've really worked hard on my batting. As you can see, I've started sweeping and reverse-sweeping the ball, that too against the fast bowlers," Agarwal said about the work he has put in to improve his limited-overs batting.

I've opened up four-five areas in my game that are paying rich dividends. I am very happy that the hard work I put in is paying off now," he added.

Agarwal is currently playing for Bengaluru Blasters in the ongoing Maharaja KSCA T20 League.
