David Warner was one of the hottest buys going into the Indian T20 League mega auction. And that has come true with teams raising their paddles for him. In the end, Delhi got him for 6.25 crores. This was a steal for Delhi, as he was expected to go for a lot higher. Warner will return to Delhi after a period of 8 years.

The Australian has been a part of the tournament for a few years and has played for Hyderabad until 2022. He also was the winning skipper of the Hyderabad team in 2016. He brings in an attacking player at the top of the order for Delhi.

Warner was released by the Hyderabad team ahead of the 2022 season after a poor run last time. He was sacked as their captain mid-way through 2021 and was dropped from the playing XI later. Many criticized this decision as he is one of the best players in the world.

The left-hander has 50 half-centuries and four centuries to his name in theT20 career. He is among the top run-scorers in the history of the tournament and has done well for the Australian team as well. He recently was the player of the series in the 20-20 World Cup 2021, and also did well in the Ashes. He came close to scoring a century twice.

Along with other Australians, Warner is likely to miss some of the ITL matches as the tour of Pakistan will be played during the start of the tournament. They also have a series against Sri Lanka post the tournament.
