Former Pakistan skipper, Misbah Ul Haq is one of the funniest cricketers one could ever come across. Misbah looked quite a serious character on the field. However, he is known for producing hilarious statements, off it. During a recent interaction involving him and Wasim Akram, Misbah Ul Haq hilariously revealed why cricketers in Pakistan don’t play unorthodox shots.

In a video that has gone viral on the internet, Wasim Akram questioned the current batters for not playing unconventional shots and sticking only to the orthodox ones.

"I have never seen Pakistan players play reverse lap or the cheeky sweep. If I am playing against Pakistan, I will know that they don't play unorthodox shots. I don't know why they don't play such shots."

To this, Misbah Ul Haq said that cricketers stopped trying to play those shots since he got out in the 2007 20-20 World Cup final against India while trying to play a scoop shot in the final over off Joginder Sharma.

"They stopped playing those shots after my scoop during the final (2007 T20 World Cup) (laughs). They must have thought, "They (fans) are not letting him live in peace, so it's better we don't try it at all." I had hit 15 fours before that shot, but no one remembers that."

Misbah Ul Haq indirectly took a dig at the fans for being too harsh at the cricketers when they try to re-invent themselves and do something out of the box. Meanwhile, Pakistan will kick start their 20-20 World Cup campaign against India on 23rd October 2022. The Men in Green played their first warm-up fixture against England, today.

Both the openers, Babar Azam and M Rizwan rested in that match. In their absence, Pakistan managed to score 160 runs in their allotted 19 overs. In reply, England took just 14.4 overs to chase down the target. Pakistan will be playing one more warm-up match against Afghanistan before they start their campaign against the arch-rivals.
