Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh penned a long note for Virat Kohli while sharing a picture of a pair of golden boots, which he gifted to Virat Kohli on Instagram.  The golden boots are of the PUMA, the brand both Kohli and Yuvraj have been associated with long time. They were part of the 2011 World Cup-winning team and have shared a lot of memories when both played for the country.

Singh has now retired from the game and Kohli has left the captaincy from all formats one by one in the last few months. Singh last played for India in mid-2017 and announced his retirement during the 2019 World Cup. Kohli left the T20I captaincy ahead of the 20-20 World Cup last year. He was removed from the ODI captaincy ahead of the South Africa tour and left the Test captaincy after the test series against the same opposition.

Meanwhile, the 40-year-old, while sharing the picture, wrote that he is glad to have shared a bond with Kohli. Yuvraj praised Kohli while gifting him the boot.

“Mere liye tu hamesha Cheeku rahega aur duniya ke liye King Kohli (you will always be Cheeku for me and King Kohli for the world),” said former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh in a heartfelt letter to batting icon Virat Kohli on Tuesday.

“Virat, I’ve seen you grow as a cricketer and as a person. From that young boy in the nets who would walk shoulder-to-shoulder with the legends of Indian cricket, you’re now a legend yourself leading the way for a new generation,” Yuvraj, the 2011 World Cup-winning star, wrote.

“Your discipline in the nets, passion on the field and dedication to the sport inspires every young kid in this country to pick up the bat and dream of putting on the blue jersey one day,” he said.

“You have elevated your level of cricket every single year and achieved so much already in this wonderful game. You have been a legendary captain and a fantastic leader.”

“Always keep the fire inside you burning. You’re a superstar. Here’s a special golden boot for you. Keep making the country proud,” Yuvraj added.

"I’m glad to have shared a bond with you as a teammate and more so a friend. Scoring runs, pulling people's legs, cheating meals, jamming to Punjabi songs and winning cups, we’ve done it all together.
