Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan is nothing but praises for the current Indian T20I team. Vaughan has stated that winning the T20I series against Australia away from home is a feat in itself. However, winning it without the presence of players such as Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah is a whole different thing. Every avid follower of the Indian team would realize the importance of these 2-star players for India.

Rohit Sharma was given some time off as he is currently recovering from a hamstring injury. Bumrah was also rested as he was part of the 3 ODIS against Australia. The MI duo has been pivotal in India’s success throughout the years. In spite of the absence of such talented players, the team did not lose confidence. Vaughan, hence, feels that this triumph is of a different magnitude.

Michael Vaughan feels that the Indian youngsters have really stepped it up this time. Citing the example of the 194 run chase in the 2nd T20I, Vaughan was impressed with the likes of Pandya and Natarajan. Pandya’s quickfire 42 off 22 balls pushed India through the winning line as they eventually won the T20I series. Natarajan, meanwhile, was quite brilliant with the ball in the 2nd T20I. In 4 overs, the SRH talent bagged 2 wickets, conceding just 20 runs in total. Vaughan is of the opinion that India has quite a tremendous potential considering the youth players of the team.

The Indian T20I side has been outstanding this year: Vaughan

The Indian side recently whitewashed New Zealand this year. With a 5-0 clean sweep, the Indian team set off to a flying T20I start for the year. Now, the men in blue have also defeated Australia away from home to clinch another T20I series. India will be quite confident as they won a couple of matches by making a spectacular comeback.

As per Vaughan, the key to their success is the confidence the players possess within themselves. Even though India’s ODI stats this year have not been the best, their T20 stats tell a completely different story. Vaughan has said that the Indian team will want to replicate the same performances in the ODI and Test format. Just before the T20I series commenced, India lost the ODI series to the Aussies. With Bumrah and Rohit likely to play in the Test Series, India will set its sight on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The India-Australia Test series is set to commence on 17 December.
