Star Proteas batter Aiden Markram amazed everyone with his stunning century in the second semi-final of SA20 2023 for Sunrisers Eastern Cape against Joburg Super Kings. Notably, Markram is also the skipper of Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the inaugural edition of the South African franchise T20 tournament.
The 28-year-old smashed a swashbuckling century off just 58 balls with six boundaries from the same number of sixes. The fans were also overjoyed and ecstatic following the century of the Sunrisers skipper and took to Twitter to lavish praises on him to take his team into the finals.

Speaking of the match between Eastern Cape and Super Kings, the latter’s skipper won the flip of the coin and asked the Markram’s men to bat first. Batting first, Eastern cape posted a big total of 213 runs for the loss of five wickets. Apart from Markram’s century, Jordan Hermann also played a crucial knock of 48 runs with five boundaries and a six to his name.
While chasing the target, Joburg Super Kings tried hard but could score only 166 runs for the loss of six wickets. Reeza Hendricks knocked off 96 runs off just 54 balls with 11 boundaries and four sixes on his credit but his efforts went in vain as Super Kings lost the match by 14 runs.
Roelof Van der Merwe scalped 2 wickets by conceding 23 runs in 4 overs with a decent economy rate of 5.75. Aiden Markram won the ‘player of the match award for his match-defining performance in favor of Eastern Cape.
Now, Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Pretoria Capitals will lock horns in the final of the tournament at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg tomorrow, Saturday, the 11th of February.
