Virat Kohli has gone through a dry spell for a while now. The former Indian skipper has not been able to get a lot of runs in recent times. Since November 2019, the world has been waiting for him to score his 71st international century. He has scored some good runs, but he has not been able to convert them into bigger scores.

Kohli hasn't struck a century in a long time, but he was India's greatest batter on the South Africa tour earlier this year and looked in top form when India faced Sri Lanka at home. However, a disappointing Indian T20 League 2022 season prompted critics to offer advice on what Kohli can do to regain his spark.

Former Pakistani skipper Misbah ul Haq is the latest to join in the conversation. The veteran cricketer has suggested that Virat Kohli should return to playing domestic cricket for a while. He stated that when you are out of form, you tend to go overboard with your training and mental approach, which is what has caused Kohli's recent slide.

"Virat Kohli looks to chase outside-off deliveries a lot and has been dismissed in that manner multiple times. We can see the technical issues, but the reason why he is doing that is because of mental issues. He is trying to dominate the bowlers as there's an ego and pride. But somewhere he is overdoing it. He is playing under more and more pressure and the pressure is mounting on him," he said while speaking on  ICA Sports’ YouTube channel.

The former Pakistan captain also stated that Kohli is now lacking confidence and that the best way for him to regain it is to face domestic bowling and score a lot of runs.

"He should go back to domestic cricket and score big runs there. Bowling may be of any standard, but that will help him get back into rhythm. The mind will start telling you that you've scored big runs. Once he gets his confidence back, it won't matter who the opposition is or what the conditions are. He'll start scoring runs," Misbah concluded.
