‘Miss u champion DJ’ - Emotional Chennai fans erupt after Dwayne Bravo retires from the Indian T20 League

Chennai franchise are preparing for the next edition of the Indian T20 League. On 15 November, along with other teams, they also submitted their final retained and released players list to the Board. However, some Chennai fans were surprised after not seeing their veteran all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo on that list.

After that, fans were waiting eagerly to see where the all-rounder from West Indies can go. He was representing this franchise for the last 15 years. But, he came up with his retirement news from this tournament on 2 December 2022. Bravo also confirmed that he will continue as the new bowling coach for Chennai in the next season.

Chennai franchise also shared the official statement from the player on Twitter. He said: “After 15 years of playing in the most toughest T20 league, I announce today that I will be no longer be taking part in Indian T20 League. It’s been a great journey, with a lot of ups and downs. At the same time, I am grateful to be a part of the Indian T20 League for the last 15 years.” 

“I know it’s a sad day for myself, my family, and most importantly my fans. But at the same time, I want us all to celebrate my career over the last 15 years. As I get ready to move on and hang up my bowling boots, I would like to let my fans know that I am looking forward to putting on my coaching cap. I look forward to working with the young bowlers in CSK. I am really excited about this new opportunity; that my calling is now to help and develop the next generation of champions. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. Forever Yellove.” He added.

Speaking about it, the Chennai franchise’s CEO, K.S Viswanathan said: "Congratulations to Dwayne Bravo on a tremendous career in the Indian T20 League. He has been a crucial member of the Super Kings family for more than a decade and we are excited to continue the association. Bravo's vast experience will be of immense value to our players and support staff. We are confident that our bowling group will thrive under his guidance." After that, Chennai fans also shared their message on social media platforms.
