Mitchell Starc confirmed that he would not play the BBL finals for Sydney Sixers. There were several assumptions regarding Starc's contribution in the tournament final, but the pacer cleared all the rumors. Starc signed for the Sydney Sixers to play his first BBL season since 2014.
Starc is out due to a hamstring injury after the Vodafone Test Series against India. The Sydney Sixers have already welcomed back other players like Moises Henriques and Sean Abbott for the back end of the season. Last year, Steve Smith, Nathan Lyon, and Josh Hazlewood also joined late in the campaign. All the three players played critical roles in the team's BBL title last summer.
The Sydney Sixers reserved their spot in the Big Bash League 2020-21 final after defeating Perth Scorchers by nine wickets in the Qualifier match. James Vince was the star performer for the side as he scored an unbeaten 98 runs off 53 deliveries.
Mitchell Starc’s had a disappointing performance in the 2020 Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Mitchell Starc featured in all four Test matches against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The pacer only managed to claim 11 wickets at an average of 40.72. The 31-year-old scalped four wickets for 53 in the pink-ball Test in Adelaide. However, in the next two matches, he bowled well but could not gain much success. Mitchell Starc struggled in the final Test at the Gabba as he conceded 75 runs in 16 overs.
The Perth Scorchers is going to play Brisbane Heat in the Challenger on Thursday. The winner will face the Sydney Sixers in the finals, which will take place on 6th February.
