Mitchell Starc confirmed that he would not play the BBL finals for Sydney Sixers. There were several assumptions regarding Starc's contribution in the tournament final, but the pacer cleared all the rumors. Starc signed for the Sydney Sixers to play his first BBL season since 2014.

Starc is out due to a hamstring injury after the Vodafone Test Series against India. The Sydney Sixers have already welcomed back other players like Moises Henriques and Sean Abbott for the back end of the season. Last year, Steve Smith, Nathan Lyon, and Josh Hazlewood also joined late in the campaign. All the three players played critical roles in the team's BBL title last summer.

The Sydney Sixers reserved their spot in the Big Bash League 2020-21 final after defeating Perth Scorchers by nine wickets in the Qualifier match. James Vince was the star performer for the side as he scored an unbeaten 98 runs off 53 deliveries.
