Mithali Raj

Former Indian opening batsman Sachin Tendulkar has stated that Mithali Raj has been a role model for everyone. The 38-year-old India Women ODI and Test team skipper made her international debut back in June 1999. Sachin Tendulkar, whose international career spanned almost 24 years, praised Mithali Raj for her conduct and dedication towards the sport. Sachin Tendulkar also reckoned that her experience would come in handy during the side's Test match against England Women from June 16. Notably, many India Women cricketers will be playing in their first-ever Test match. The Indian cricket team last played in the most extended format of the game back in the year 2014. On the other hand, it will be England's first red-ball match since the 2019 Ashes.

Mithali Raj to captain the team for the one-off Test and three ODIs

India and England will play against each other in a four-day Test match, commencing from June 16. The top two teams will then face each other in three ODIs beginning June 27. All the One Day Internationals between India and England will be played at Bristol, Taunton, and Worcester. Both sides will then face each other in three T20Is, beginning July 9.

After completing the England series, five players will stay back for the maiden season of "The Hundred". Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodriguez, Deepti Sharma, and Harmanpreet Kaur. The highly anticipated contest, organized by the England Cricket Board, will start on July 21.
