The Board of Control for Cricket in India has officially announced its partnership with MPL Sports on Tuesday. The sports brand is the new kit sponsor and official merchandise partner for both the Men's and Women's Cricket Team.
The gaming platform has signed a three-year deal with BCCI commencing from November 2020 to December 2023. Its association with BCCI will begin with the upcoming India Tour of Australia. The senior men’s, women’s team and the Under-19 squad are a part of the deal for the new kits.
Apart from India jerseys, MPL Sports will also sell officially licensed merchandise. The fantasy gaming platform will endeavor the jerseys and its wide range of merchandise to fans at affordable prices. MPL Sports is looking forward to adding a new chapter to the team's kit and bring the merchandise within easy and convenient reach for the fans.
MPL sports has agreed to pay the base price of 65 lakh per game
The board had set the base price as 8 Crore for the merchandise partner and Rs 65 lakh per match for kit sponsorship. Nike, the kit sponsor of BCCI for the last 14 years, had paid Rs 85 lakh per game and Rs 30 crore as total royalty over four years.
MPL sports has agreed to pay the base price of Rs 65 lakh per game and 3 Crore per year as the merchandise partner. Throughout the subsequent three years, the Indian cricket team is likely to play 142 matches.
BCCI is looking forward to work with a young Indian brand like MPL Sports to tap the potential market. This partnership intends at facilitating access to Indian cricket fan merchandise. It includes an Indian cricket team jersey for fans not just in the country but globally.
