Former Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir reckoned that all-rounder Moeen Ali can be of great value to the Chennai Super Kings. The England cricketer has played for RCB last season and was released ahead of the 2021 IPL auction. Ali will be available at a base price of 2 crores. The English batsman is expected to attract a lot of buyers considering his excellent form.

The 33-year-old recently demonstrated his batting talent in the fourth innings of the second Test match against India. Ali smashed three consecutive sixes off Axar Patel. He has the advantage of being a left-hander. Chennai is a team that might be looking for an all-rounder as well as an off-spinner, and Moeen Ali's profile as a cricketer fits on that requirement.

Moeen Ali could be the perfect replacement of Harbhajan Singh: Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir believes that Moeen Ali would be the perfect replacement for Harbhajan Singh in CSK. He can bat anywhere in the order, and his off-spin bowling can be useful in Chennai's conditions. With two left-arm spinners and two leg spinners already on the side, CSK will now be looking to cover the remaining bases. Considering MS Dhoni always had off-spinners in the side, like R Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh, it's a great possibility the management would tempt to go for Moeen Ali or K Gowtham in the auction.

Moeen Ali has featured in 19 IPL games, scoring 309 runs at a strike rate of 158.5. It includes three half-centuries.
