Former Pakistan player Mohammad Amir has joined Caribbean Premier League (CPL) team Barbados Tridents. The franchise has roped in former Pakistan fast bowler for the 2021 season, which will be played from August 28 to September 19 in St. Kitts. Mohammed Amir, who announced retirement from international cricket at the age of 28, has never played in the CPL. Amir last played professional cricket in March for Karachi Kings in the postponed Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021. Amir featured in five games before the season was delayed due to COVID-19.

In those games, he had scalped four wickets at an average of 38.75, an economy rate of 7.75, and a strike rate of 30. The T20 tournament eventually began on February 20. Only 14 games had been conducted before the COVID cases were reported. After the completion of PSL, he will join Kent in this season's Vitality Blast. The 29-year-old will also be a part of the maiden edition of The Hundred later this year. The left-arm bowler has a brilliant record in the shortest format of the game. He has picked up 220 wickets from 190 T20Is at an average of 22.50. This also includes a six-wicket haul and a couple of five-furs.

Shoaib Malik and Nepal off-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane bagged new contracts

It was known that Amir had retired from international cricket after a fall-out with Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis. After retirement, it is going to be a new challenge for the former Pakistan pacer. Two more deals were finalized on Tuesday as former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik and Nepal off-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane also bagged new contracts. The duo was roped in by Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders, respectively. Lamichanne, who had earlier been a part of the Jamaica Tallawahs last season, will now be a part of TKR. Sandeep Lamichhane has featured in 21 matches in the CPL so far. In those games, he has picked up 27 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 5.80.

Meanwhile, the Knight Riders have retained 12 players ahead of the players' draft, which will occur on May 26. The Knight Riders have also traded in Denesh Ramdin from St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Denesh Ramdin played one season of CPL for the Patriots before returning to TKR.
