After staying for 1155 days at the top of the T20I rankings, Pakistan skipper across formats, Babar Azam has been displaced. Recently, it was assumed that India's Suryakumar Yadav might replace Azam at the top. However, in a surprising turn of events, Azam's teammate Mohammad Rizwan has replaced his skipper in the batting rankings of the shortest format. Before becoming the number one batter, Azam was ranked 306th in November 2020.

He entered the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 as the number one batter. However, his poor run of form with the bat has decreased his rating points. On the other hand, Rizwan has hit two fifties in the three games played by the Green Brigade. This is the reason he has risen up in the rankings. His career rating is 815, his best in his career so far. Notably, both players open the batting for their national side in T20Is. On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav, who was the number two batter a while ago, has now slipped to number four.

South Africa's Aiden Markram has moved up in the rankings and is in the third spot. England's Dawid Malan, who was the number one player at one stage, is now in the fifth position with 731 points. Australia's 20-20 World Cup-winning skipper Aaron Finch is just below Malan in the rankings. New Zealand's Devon Conway is in the seventh spot with 683 points.

Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka is also placed in the top-10 rankings. He is in the eighth spot with 675 points. Notably, he replaced United Arab Emirates' Muhammad Wasim, who slipped to ninth. He wasn't in the bet of form in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 before he hit a half-century against India which helped his side win the game and placed their foot in the final. Now, let's have a look at the rankings.
