In what seems to be a delightful piece of news for Team India and their fans, the star India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has started the batting practice after a long injury break. Notably, he was not in action in international cricket for almost the last 8 months.
It all happened due to the multiple injuries he sustained in a horrific car crash on Delhi-Dehradun Highway while travelling to his home in Haridwar. He was rushed to the Saksham Hospital in Roorkee, which was near the accident spot in Roorkee. Later, he was referred to the Max Hospital of Dehradun before being treated under the supervision of the Indian Cricket Board’s medical team in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubai Hospital.
After going through the surgery, he underwent a few therapy sessions during the phase of recovering from multiple injuries, including a fracture in his right knee. Almost the entire cricketing fraternity extended their good wishes for the star Indian wicketkeeper-batter.
India struggle without Rishabh Pant in major international assignments
Team India has also faced some difficulties to fill in the void created during Pant’s absence and his unavailability in international cricket. One match where India missed his presence, intent and aggression was during the World Test Championship 2021-23 final against Australia in June. Rohit Sharma’s men went on to lose by a mammoth margin of 209 runs.
Apart from that, the Men in Blue also felt the 25-year-old's absence in a couple of bilateral series clashes. He could have been a big decisive factor in the recently-concluded five-match T20I series against West Indies, which India lost recently by 2-3, under Hardik Pandya's captaincy. Meanwhile, Pant's return to the cricket field has lifted the spirits of the team and fans alike. This could be a huge boost to India given that the all-important ODI World Cup 2023 os around the corner.

Great to see him progressing on his health. From not being able to walk a few months back to now hitting the ball like before, superb.
