The Aussie all-rounder has scored 167 runs in the three ODIs against India. He has smashed 12 fours and 11 sixes in the entire series. Glenn Maxwell had a terrible IPL 2020 season for the Kings XI Punjab. He scored just 108 runs from 13 matches. The all-rounder failed to hit even a single six in the entire tournament.
However, Maxwell managed to twist his fate around for Australia in the three ODI games against India. The Indian bowling unit found it challenging to get Maxwell early in the innings.
Vaughan feels Maxwell is in great form and there is no white-ball team in the world that wouldn't want to have him in their squad. Australia has found the right place for him at number 7.
Maxwell has found his mojo for the One Day Side, believes Michael Vaughan
Glenn Maxwell has tried to fit into the Australian playing XI in many different roles, especially in the ODIs. But Michael Vaughan believes that number 7 is the perfect spot for him. He has also shown his best form when he has to start hitting from ball one.
Vaughan believes Maxwell has found his real objective playing for Australia in the white-ball format. And with this, the flamboyant batsman has to give them strong finishes with the bat towards the end.
Thus, Vaughan also believes that Glenn Maxwell will now enjoy his new role for Australia in the forthcoming years. The first T20Is match between India and Australia will be on December 4, in Canberra. The 32-year-old will be optimistic about replicating his ODI form into the T20Is as well.
It can be said that the Men in Blue will hold some edge in the shortest format as all of their stars had a good IPL season. The team will be eager to adopt that form into the international arena as well.
Players like Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya had an excellent ODI series. But Smith, Maxwell, Finch had a rather colorless IPL 2020. However, the trio roared back to form in the one-day series against India. Thus, the upcoming T20 matches could be one thriving series.
